Prey

The trespassing animal initially appears on the farm of an old couple on the outskirts of the city. In that residence, a small girl is sleeping in her chamber while a large shadow (apparently of the animal) goes past in the outside passage. The old couple's young daughter rides her bike home late at night with her boyfriend when they hear a clanking noise. The elderly father dislikes the man his daughter has chosen and rushes out of his bed to 'welcome' him, but the bike has tripped and the engine is still going. He eventually discovers that the beast has killed his daughter and her lover, as well as himself, all off-screen.

The following morning, at the Amsterdam Zoo, veterinarian Lizzy Storm (Sophie van Winden) is operating on a crocodile specimen when her boyfriend Dave (Julian Looman), a cameraman for the local news channel AT5, meets her under the guise of photographing some baby hippos. They discuss their relationship problems, Dave's adultery, their next date, and so on. Lizzy is summoned to the farm site, ostensibly by the police, for her expertise in identifying animal traits.
